Calculate net salary from gross salary in Sweden
Gross salary is your pay before tax. Net salary is what remains after preliminary tax has been withheld. This calculator uses the official Swedish monthly tax tables for 2026.
How the Swedish tax table is selected
You can choose your municipality, year of birth and whether you are a member of the Church of Sweden. The calculator then uses Skatteverket's official municipal and parish tax and fee data to select the relevant table.
If your payslip or tax decision already shows a tax table and column, choose I know my tax table and enter them directly.
Why is Swedish salary tax not simply the municipal tax rate?
Swedish tax tables take several rules into account, including the basic allowance, earned income tax credit, state income tax where applicable and the public service fee. The effective tax rate can therefore differ substantially from the headline municipal tax rate.
Church of Sweden membership
Members of the Church of Sweden pay a church fee that varies by parish. This can change the tax table. If you are a member, select your parish so the calculator can use the corresponding official rate.
Is this the same as your final annual tax?
No. The result shows preliminary tax withholding according to the monthly table. Your final annual tax can differ because of adjustments, benefits, other income, deductions and individual decisions from Skatteverket.
This calculator is an independent service and is not operated by Skatteverket or another Swedish authority.
